Flow monitoring in a former mining site, Envineer Oy
The KAJAK project investigates the risks of closed and abandoned mining waste areas. The goal of the project is to bring the environmental and health risks of old mining waste areas under sustainable control.
The Orijärvi mine is the first significant copper mine in Finland. There was mining in the area from 1758 until 1955. As part of the KAJAK project, the area’s hydrological conditions and the need for renovation are investigated.
To support the survey work, comprehensive flow monitoring is carried out in the area with continuous measurements. Mittausguru implements the measurements as a complete service with the help of flow measurement wells, ultrasound measurements and surface level measurements.
Envineer Oy is responsible for the survey work and Pirkanmaa ELY Center is responsible for the overall project.
