Water research
Reliable data for protecting our waters
We offer comprehensive monitoring services for water research needs, covering water quality, flow, weather conditions, and ground monitoring. We collaborate with leading equipment manufacturers, research institutions, and designers in the field. Our expert team has decades of experience in designing, installing, and maintaining continuous monitoring systems in surface water, groundwater, and stormwater environments, as well as marine areas. Measurements can be carried out as short-term open-water season campaigns or as long-term multi-year time series in field conditions year-round.
Surface water
Continuous monitoring provides valuable additional data on the condition of our water bodies and the changes occurring within them — particularly during extreme weather events such as heavy rainfall and drought periods. Monitoring gives a more detailed picture of catchment area dynamics and the load placed on water bodies.
Automated measurements enable automatic load calculations for parameters such as suspended solids, nitrate nitrogen, and organic matter. For flow measurement in ditches and rivers, we offer several different solutions, always taking into account the specific characteristics of each site. In lake environments, monitoring of parameters such as dissolved oxygen and temperature can provide precise data on lake turnover and ecological status.
Groundwater
Groundwater levels and quality can be monitored continuously, remotely, and automatically using dedicated instrumentation. Cost-effective IoT technology can be utilised for measurements, significantly reducing the costs of automation. Monitoring is particularly important in connection with construction work requiring dewatering and when working in the vicinity of sensitive natural areas.
Water level measurement is typically based on a hydrostatic pressure sensor, with measurements calibrated to the N2000 elevation system. In addition, changes in parameters such as dissolved oxygen, electrical conductivity, pH, or TOC can be monitored across different seasons.
Stormwater
As flood risks grow, continuous monitoring of stormwater levels, flow, and water quality enables the identification and anticipation of risk situations. Water quality and quantity can be measured in various pipe systems and channels at minute-level resolution.
Based on the measurement data, it is possible to assess the performance of retention structures, identify catchment area pollution sources, and quickly detect potential anomalies. Explore our diverse references on the Customers page.
Coastal areas
Measurements in marine environments require special attention to installation methods and maintenance. Depending on the site, measurements can be carried out using various measurement platforms, buoys, or bottom-anchored instruments.
In marine areas, typical parameters under monitoring include variations in turbidity, temperature, and salinity, wave conditions, water surface levels, and current directions and velocities at different depths. Our experts will design a monitoring solution tailored to the specific site.
