Baltic Sea water quality monitoring, Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency and the City of Vaasa

Mittausguru Oy provided the real-time turbidity and temperature measurements for Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency and the City of Vaasa during the harbour dredging operations in summer 2025. Our five monitoring rafts performed 14 400 times over a three-month period and withstood the strong winds of storm ”Ulla”. Yet another succesful monitoring project!

Online turbidity and temperature measurements were taken both near the surface and close to the seabed. Mittausguru delivered these measurements as a full monitoring service, taking care of everything required to ensure high-quality results. Sea conditions were challenging, but our monitoring rafts – equipped with the In-Situ AquaTROLLs supported by our data quality control service – proved to be the perfect combination for reliable results. Visualization tools in our Cloudservice really helped the data analysis providing daily average results and the integration of local weather data. Now that our wet suits are cleaned and dried, it is time to move on to the next projects!

Sensors’ automatic cleaning significantly increases the reliability of the measurements.
